Streetfood

Prepare for a food truck revolution in Amsterdam this weekend… It’s time for the Rollende Keukens (Rolling Kitchens)! Let’s hope that the sun will show it’s face soon so that it will be as big of a hit as last year. Music, long picnic tables, crowded but fun. Meet you there?

Food truck revolution

Last summer I spend two weeks on Vancouver Island, Canada. What I remember most (surprise… surprise…) is the delicious food. All over the island there was an abundance of brightly colored vans. The scene of some heartfelt cooking. Hard to miss because of the aroma of fresh ingredients and long lines. No sausages from a can or greasy fries. No! Dishes like freshly caught fish on a lime-coleslaw. That’s what I call take-out!

Vans and happy campers

Luckily, I can relive this memory this weekend right here in Amsterdam. For the seventh time the Westergasterrein will be overflowing with vans and happy campers selling sausage rolls from Brabant, baked potatoes from the Piepermobiel, milkshakes from the Melkmeisjes, fresh paella, sexy vegetables, the Cream Cheese Brothers and many more. Like swinging live music.
